Dental Bridges
At Saba Road Dental Center in Richmond, our dentists use dental bridges to fill the gaps left by missing teeth.
Dental Bridges to Replace Missing Teeth
A dental bridge is a span of artificial teeth joined together to 'bridge' the gap left by one or more missing teeth.
How Bridges Work
When an empty space is left by missing teeth it can cause the surrounding teeth to shift out of proper position.
When teeth shift out of their proper positions it can result in discomfort, an increased risk of tooth decay and gum disease, or even lead to further tooth loss.
Fixed dental bridges can enhance the appearance of your smile while also improving your ability to chew and speak.
The Procedure
Teeth on either side of the gap are prepared for dental crowns, then a highly accurate impression of the prepared area is then taken. A porcelain, tooth-coloured bridge is created in a laboratory using the impression.
The bridge will then be cemented to the prepared surface of the teeth on either side of the gap. This effectively creates the appearance of a 'new' tooth or teeth.
